Installation

[root@host ~ #] pacman -S rxvt-unicode

[root@host ~ #] echo 'x11-terms/rxvt-unicode xft perl 256-color' >> /etc/portage/package.use/urxvt
# Add to '/etc/portage/patches/x11-terms/rxvt-unicode-9.21/' the patch 'secondary-wheel.patch'
[root@host ~ #] emerge -avt x11-terms/rxvt-unicode

Daemon Mode

Like Emacs, daemon mode speeds up startup speed.

Put the following code line into auto-start script or X setting.

urxvtd --quiet --opendisplay --fork

To launch client side, just urxvtc.

1. If the daemon is terminated, all running clients would be terminated as well.
2. By default, the local listening socket is located at ~/.urxvt/urxvtd-hostname.

Configuration

Add to ~/.Xresources:

#include ".Xresources.d/urxvt"

Then customize options there. To configure Solarized color theme, clone the resources, the include the pathname.

# .Xresources.d/urxvt

#include "Xresources.dark"
